Event Description

Unique opportunity to enjoy African music and songs with extraordinary artists from Senegal.

The Sadio Cissohko band (evening):
Sadio and Adama are both from the famous Cissokho family, known as Griots i.e. lineage of musicians. They have travelled over from the Casamance, Senegal for a 2 month tour in the UK. How lucky are we! The band features Sadio's on kora (African harp) with bass, drum kit as well as the wonderful and beautiful singer Adama Cissokho.

The evening gig starts at 7.30 pm with local group African Junction warming up the audience with some high energy West African drum and dance.

African Singing workshop (afternoon):
Anyone who has seen or heard Jelimuso singer Adama, will know what a special opportunity this is. I had that chance in Senegal January 2010 and was gobsmacked when Edd (the bass player) said they were coming over! You don't have to know the Mandinka language, Adama will tell you the words and the meaning behind the songs. This isn't a workshop for pro singers, it's a chance to enjoy the experience - just listening to the incredible kora playing by Sadio will be pure bliss and he is a fantastic singer too!
