HORCA – The Heart of Ryemead Community Association was founded 3 years ago by church groups , local Councillors & local residents. Our objective is to secure a community facility for the residents of Ryemead.
Wycombe District Council conducted an audit earlier this year and confirmed our position that there is a deficient in Community Buildings in Ryemead.
Land has been identified at the rear of the Retail Park, opposite Fitness First, which would be ideal for a Community Facility. This land needs to be purchased within 3 years of the first spade being dug on the site, so we have less than 2 years now to find the funding to purchase the site.
Wycombe District Council estimate the cost of a community centre would be £786,887.50 plus the cost of the land (£200,000), which could be funded with S106 developer contributions. However, in light of the fact S106 developer contributions are not forthcoming in this current climate, what are Wycombe District Council going to do to help us secure funding NOW? Will WDC help with funding ongoing management costs, or will that be left to the community to fund and manage ?
HORCA are looking for local residents who would like to get involved with this project & who are interested in obtaining and using a community facility in Ryemead. If you would like to help please contact Paula Lee.
