Online Networking and Face-to-Face Networking - both can be Social!

Although I am deeply fascinated by the plethora of opportunities afforded by new online social networking technologies, nothing can replace meeting and engaging with people face-to-face. F2F interaction is the basic human condition and essential for happy life and living. As a musician (well drummer!) I appreciate the quality of music is higher when I am playing with other musicians in front of a real crowd rather than in front of music technology by myself. However without the hard graft alone the performances will not reach highs.

The same goes for social networking. Sitting at home by a screen can lead to broader range of contacts, you can quickly establish common ground and themes for connection. But without meeting up these relationships will not flourish as well.

That is why I believe the Centre for Creativity and CSI: High Wycombe are key initiatives for this network and for Wycombe District overall. Its is through face-to-face meetings and collaboration that we can energise each other for greater success.

Arts4Every1 Showcase - Time for Thanks!

Now the dust has settled its time for a roll call of thanks to the many people and groups of Wycombe who got together to prove that we need St John's as a our Centre for the Arts and Creativity. With nearly 300 people attending over two days we can safely say that the people are starting to realise the potential this venue can bring to our lives.

Firstly a big thank you from Arts4Every1 to everyone who helped and voluntered to make the event go so well.

Creative Centre Coffee Morning 1st November

Brilliant! Many thanks to all those that attended the Arts4Every1 Coffee Morning on Saturday. There is some real impetus building now and lots of discussions and collaborations on how the Centre for Creatvity could really positively impact the live's of the people of Wycombe.

More than 50 people made it between 10am and 2pm including local residents and shop keepers too. The advertising board outside helped in bringing people in as… Continue

How WycombeNetwork started!

I posted this blog on another site back in March. I was thinking of using Wyspace for this site, instead I have opted for WycombeNetwork.com. This is a simpler name and does what it says on the tin! Anyway the sentiments of the blog remain the same. Just read WycombeNetwork.com for Wyspace!

It was great thanks - I'm just uploading photos now. Do I have to invite our committee and members to join to be able to view them?

Hello Mike

Glad to help get things going - I'll invite some more soon. I can't get over how easy it is to upload photos, much easier than Facebook - in fact the whole site is so user friendly - it's great. One thing I was trying to set up Commercial Sq as a group and can't because we don't have a website address - is there any way round that please?

Cheers Patricia

Hi Mike I've tried this and can't seem to get it to work - the error message keeps coming up - did what you suggested - maybe I'm not doing it correctly but created my group - (didn't seem to be able to get the photo to come up either but maybe that only shows up once you have successfully created the group) and cut and pasted the URL into the correct space - hmmm I'll have another go when I get in tonight.

Thanks
Patricia

Hello Mike that would be good thank you - I will send an email to everyone to remind them to sign up - I have invited them all and we have Jackie and Liz on the Network but need to get everyone else - then we'll be able to get the group set up which will be good - have sent out more invitations but people seem slow to actually get round to joining up or maybe lots of people are on hols just now - anyay I'll do my best.

Hello Mike
I'm sure you've thought of this but have you sent notification of this wonderful website to Trisha at the Visual Images Group - she could put it into her regular email newsletter - it goes out every couple of weeks to at least a couple of hundred artists and hopefully many of them in our area would be keen to sign up - I'm just trying to think how we can get more people on the site quickly, people I have already contacted said they will sign up but they aren't exactly being quick about it - studio members included!
Good luck anyway.

Hello Mike

Yes I did see the comment and sounds like a good idea to me. Would you take a commission from the sales price?

Sounds good and what good domain names to get - I am happy to help in any way as I'm as keen to see the site is a big success - I know how much hard work must have gone into it. I'm having an op on my foot next week and will be grounded for two weeks - no walking or driving - have lots of things planned to keep me busy (like improving my Djembe playing!) but will have a bit more time to think about how I can help and hopefully drum up a few more people.

Hi Mike,
At the moment I'm just starting out so I have sold through the Bucks Open Studio's in June and am in the process of sending info packs out to galleries and organisations. The online set up sound like a really good idea and I would definitely be interested.
Keep me updated or if you need any help with it would also be intereseted.
Regards
Vickie
